HAPPY NEW YEAR (almost)
How does it feel to know that today is the last day of 2010? You will never be in this year again... unless some genius comes up with a *contraption* that can move individuals through the *time-space continuum.*
Tis the season for SHARING:

I am *thoroughly* bored.
Fortunately for me, I have Vampire Weekend to keep me company. :)

Andddd... in other news. I am really sick of wrapping presents. I think about it way too much. I think about the present and the person in order to select the ideal paper and then make sure that the ribbon and bow perfectly match the paper. Then frequently make my own gift tag. What is my problem????

Today, the professor that is accompanying our class to the Canary Islands sent us an e-mail that suggested we bring *undies* and a change of clothes in a plastic bag in our back-packs. Sure, it makes sense - but he said "UNDIES." HA!
Love and New Year's Best!
Christmas is not a time nor a season, but a state of mind. To cherish peace and goodwill, to be plenteous in mercy, is to have the real spirit of Christmas. - Calvin Coolidge

In Your Eyes
Ever notice that when you look into someone's eyes... it's like your world stops? That there is a completely sacred and personal moment between you and that individual that no one else is sharing or will share?
I mean - it's really incredible...
If it happens, it's like that other person has let you into their universe; you see things that you've never seen before, or at least see things in a new light. And it fills your body with this nervous energy that either makes you look away really quickly or keep staring. AND if, for whatever reason, you have a number of moments like this with the same person; it's like having a conversation with your eyes... a completely silent, yet totally meaningful conversation - not stereotypical and bland, but full of depth, character, honesty, and beauty.
Having one of those moments (and I don't know that they do happen all that often) is SO rare, but it feels so amazing; that someone trusts you enough - or wants to - that they will give you 30 seconds of life from their perspective. It's a connection of souls; seeing deep into another person's being - and you feel so lucky.
I feel so lucky. Thanks for sharing with me.
Bummed I won't get to see you for a long time now...

Nervous Besmudger
Right now sucks.
Feeling like - I'm the crappiest friend ever...
Apparently I can't juggle things all that well...
I thought I was good at multitasking - maybe I am...
Just not when it comes to people...
Sorry.

To Scoot.
For those times when you have no idea what is going on. Or need to procrastinate. Or just want to go home and see your dog. You write in your blog... that I hope, for your sake, you have.
Last night I studied French with a friend and I learned an incredible amount. For example, the following is a list of vocabulary words and verbs that I need to know for tomorrow's test, followed by their definition.
un écran - to scoot
porter - to scoot
le gilet - to scoot
Apparently it is best, when you are doubting your second language abilities, to respond; to scoot. You are most certainly right if you respond "to scoot."
Last night I stayed up too late. This morning I got up too early. Right now I can't focus on studying because I genuinely do want to go home and see my dog. Who really cares about the "three different types of jealousy" or "Duck's Phases of Relationship Dissolution"? NOT ME, that's who.
So maybe, if I procrastinate till lunch, study for French, b.s. my way through my Coms. final... the world will be SPECTACULAR?

To those that know:
"Sometimes you put walls up not to keep people out, but to see who cares enough to break them down."
To those that know me:
The real me. The me that is too stubborn to tell you that I'm hurt or that I care more than I let on. The me that cares more than anything about you and everything in your life. The me that will be there for you no matter what. To those that know that side of me, remember that I struggle too - I'm not as strong as I let on. I may be stubborn, but I'm not made of stone; my heart is just as soft as yours. And what I want more than anything is for you to be just as willing to see the real me, as I have been to see the real you.

Wanna know something?
I love coffee.
Reason 1: it's warm
Reason 2: it smells good
Reason 3: it wakes me up
Reason 4: it reminds me of home (and my mom, who I miss lots right now)
Reason 5: it tastes good
Reason 6: it makes me feel educated and worldly
Reason 7: it makes me excited for the future
(don't tell me that you've never fantasized about yourself; sitting in your future apartment on a comfy couch in your living room that's just how you want it, reading a good book and drinking out of a big mug filled with coffee)
Sure tea is warm and most of the time smells good - sometimes it smells like wet paper
Hot chocolate is great, but it's sweet - and I can only take so much of that
Coffee. The end.

45 minutes, ALL to myself...
Christmas is my favorite time.
The feeling that I get is - indescribable.
It didn't used to be so wonderful, and I don't know when that changed, but I am SO thankful it did.
Because now there is something about this time of year that calms my brain and soothes my soul; the smell of cookies and fresh pine, the beautiful lights, the fresh and new snow that falls gently to the ground, the crackle of a fire...
Are there many things in life that can beat how good it feels to be home surrounded by the people you love and a warmth that hugs your whole body, that makes its way up from your toes to the tip of your head to the point that you just can't help but smile?
I wish this feeling came around more often and that the genuine kindness and concern people show around the holidays didn't just happen once a year.
Still, it makes this time of year so much more special.
I love knowing that some things will never change and that some things will always remain untarnished.
I have been looking forward to watching White Christmas with my mom and sister since November...
I can't WAIT to decorate the house and listen to Christmas music, letting the smells and sounds fill the house...
Do you ever see that twinkle in the eyes of children this time of year and wonder; did I look like that when I was little?
I hope I still have that look; that I never lose sight of the joy in this mysterious and magical season.
May your days be merry and bright, and may all your Christmases be white.

Random Band Name Generator
I think too much.
But sometimes - maybe even most of the time - you really can't help but think...
I realized while making this blog (that I am not even sure I will use all that often) that sometimes I care too much, too. I couldn't figure out what to call my blog and by the time I'd come up with a name creative enough for me SOME CRAZY took it. :(
I was mad.
THEN, I had to come up with another name... and just now I had to come up with a name for this installment. I realized that using a random name generator might be the most effective way... But thought calling it a generator might be more clever.
...
Sometimes we don't realize just how lucky we are to have certain people in our lives. There are people that come into and out of our lives on a daily basis, people that enter and re-enter with the expectation that you can just pick up where you left off, and then there are those people who (no matter what DOES happen) stay in your life, and you stay in theirs, and it's okay because that's how it was meant to be.
I have a friend like that - a few, actually. But my days are better knowing that I can count on someone to be there to listen to my musings, ramblings, and crazy ideas... The people that are there for you when you need a shoulder or the people who are not opposed to jumping in the car at 1:00 A.M. to go to Wal-Mart - JUST BECAUSE.
I love those people. SO MUCH.
